Students are admitted to the Department of Painting through the national examination administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey, in combination with the Aptitude Examination conducted by the faculty. Successful candidates are awarded a bachelor’s degree upon completion of the four-year undergraduate program.
Graduates of the Painting Department are qualified to pursue careers as independent artists, art consultants, teachers, art directors in both public and private institutions, designers in specialized studios or diverse sectors, and as academic staff in educational and research institutions related to Fine Arts. Moreover, graduates seeking to advance academically are eligible to continue their studies in master’s and doctoral programs offered by universities.
The Department of Painting provides an art education that fosters intellectual depth, technical competence, and artistic vision. The program is designed to enable students to identify and address artistic problems, develop an individual perspective, think analytically, synthesize knowledge, comprehend the cultural and social phenomena of their era, and articulate ideas through a personal artistic language. In doing so, the department promotes the acquisition and interpretation of artistic culture and visual thinking, encouraging students to engage in critical and independent reflection.
Throughout the curriculum, the program seeks to cultivate professionals who possess the intellectual capacity, technical skills, and artistic sensibility required in the field. It aims to educate individuals equipped with the qualifications to meet sectoral demands, who adhere to professional ethical principles, demonstrate leadership qualities, engage in research and critical inquiry, and commit to continuous self-development—thus preparing the artists and experts needed by society.
