Faculty of Fine Arts Art Collection Selection Opens with the "Accumulated Memory" Exhibition

Selected Works from BAUN Faculty of Fine Arts Art Collection Presented in the “Accumulated Memory” Exhibition

The “Accumulated Memory” exhibition, bringing together selected works from the Balıkesir University Faculty of Fine Arts Art Collection and curated by Prof. Dr. Duygu Sabancılar Iştın, a faculty member of the Faculty of Fine Arts, has opened to visitors.The opening ceremony, held at the Stone Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts, was attended by Balıkesir University Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Cevdet Avcıkurt, Prof. Dr. Murat Doğdubay, and Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl, members of the University Senate, and academic staff of the Faculty of Fine Arts. The program began with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Selvihan Kılıç Ateş, who emphasized that the exhibition highlights the faculty’s accumulated artistic production and contributes to preserving and passing on its institutional memory to future generations. The exhibition’s curator, Prof. Dr. Duygu Sabancılar Iştın, then introduced the exhibition and shared information about its preparation. She explained that the first selection features approximately 100 paintings and printmaking works acquired for the Faculty of Fine Arts Art Collection over nearly twenty years through exhibitions, workshops, symposiums, artistic events, and donations. She also noted that the exhibition will continue with new selections in the future. In his address, Balıkesir University Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu stated that the “Accumulated Memory” exhibition makes a significant contribution to the university’s cultural heritage and congratulated the academics and artists whose efforts made the exhibition possible. Following the speeches, the guests toured the exhibition. Featuring a distinguished selection of paintings and printmaking works from the Balıkesir University Faculty of Fine Arts Art Collection, acquired at different periods, the exhibition will remain open to visitors until 11 August 2026.
